Vision and Mission of the IUPUI Psychology Department
The vision and mission statements of the Psychology Department reflect our belief that scholarship is the foundation for all of our work, in teaching, research, and service.
Vision Statement
Our vision is to establish and maintain a community of learners, including faculty, students, and staff who collaborate on scholarly endeavors. We want our students to feel connected to the department, to each other, and to faculty and staff. Staff should feel that they are significant contributors to the department mission. And faculty should support the department mission and work in an environment that supports quality teaching and scholarship.
Mission Statement
The mission of the department is to:
- Develop scholarly research, teaching, and service programs that receive National/International recognition.
- Maintain unique, focused, high-quality graduate programs that serve the state of Indiana and prepare students for teaching, research, administration, or applied specialty positions in public and private organizations.
- Provide a wide-range of the highest-quality educational opportunities at the undergraduate level.
- Serve as a resource to the Central Indiana community.
Scholarship is the center and principal focus of the department, with a recognition that scholarship may occur in the domains of basic research, teaching, and service. We strive to identify and reward scholarly activities in each of these areas.
